Mindfulness is not something that you have to "get" or acquire.  It is already within you- a deep internal resource available and patiently waiting to be reawakened and used in the service of learning, growing and healing.

The Mindfulness -Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR)
has benefited people reporting a variety of conditions from everyday stress in work and family life to illness, pain and psychological distress as well as aiding in wellness and prevention.

Here are a list of just some of the conditions that have benefited from MBSR:

*High Blood Pressure

*Cancer     *Heart disease

*Stomach and GI distress

*Skin disorders  *Lupus

*Chronic illnesses

*Anxiety    *Substance Abuse

*Depression  *Panic  *Fatigue

*Sleep disturbances

MBSR is highly respected in the medical community.  It is not offered as an alternative to traditional medical and psychological treatments but as a complement to these approaches.

See the Research page for more on the effects of MBSR.

Jackie's diverse 23 year nursing career has led her to the discovery of the healing practice of Mindfulness- Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).   MBSR combines the ancient contemplative traditions of the east with the modern discoveries of western medicine.  This melding of east and west runs true in her blood, having a mother from New Delhi and a father with German - Swiss heritage.  Wanting something more to offer to her patients than pills and simply treating the symptoms of illness, she sees MBSR as going to the cause and giving people something sustainable that they can use throughout their entire life.  She agrees that MBSR is the next most important public health initiative of our time.
