Prior to starting the eight week MBSR class a pre- program orientation class is offered for free. This is a time to meet me, ask questions, experience some mindfulness practices and fill out required forms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q- Is the pre- program orientation required?
A- It is highly recommended but not mandatory, that all participants attend. MBSR requires a big commitment and this helps the you to decide if you are ready to make that commitment. It also gives you a chance to experience the practices, meet me and fill out required forms.
Q- How do I register?
A- Please contact Jackie (email me on the contact page) before signing up, as to ensure that the center is ready to start registration. If you plan to take the 8 week MBSR class at The Center for Health and Sports Performance on Tuesdays, you will need to call the center directly to register. If you plan to take the 8 week MBSR course at the North Lake Tahoe Event Center or in Grass Valley then you will contact Jackie by going to the Contact page and sending an email or calling 530-368-7603.
Q- Do I need to have have experience in yoga?
A- No, movement is gentle and can be done from a chair. I will always assist with helping you with variations. No meditation or yoga experience is necessary.
Q- When is the retreat?
A - The Day long retreat is generally held between the 6th and the 7th week of class. It is mostly silent, it is free and it is held at a beautiful spot over looking Lake Tahoe at the North Lake Tahoe Event Center. Be sure to bring cushions/pillows, blanket and a mat.
Q- What if I miss a class?
A- As with most things, the more you put into the class the more you will get out of it. That being said, it is best to attend all the classes and retreat, but there is no penalty (or judgement) if you miss a class.
There is no refund for missed classes or dropping out after the first class, but you will get a $100 discount for retaking the class.
Q- I would like to use my employers education money to pay for this class, how do I do this?
A- It is best to pay the center, get a receipt and contact your HR department for the necessary forms to submit for reimbursement. If you are a TFHD employee I will be happy to assist you with this procedure.
You will receive 22 Contact Hours for the 8 week MBSR class. I will offer contact hours for various retreats and workshops, also.
Q- What should I wear and bring to class?
A- Loose fitting, comfortable layers are best. Mats and props are provided at the Truckee location but not the Kings Beach location. You are encouraged to bring a mat, blanket or pillows for comfort. But as with everything, Come as you are!
